United Way of Marion County will join United Ways across the country in the second annual United Way Day of Action. This event will take place on Saturday, June 20th and is part of United Way’s new LIVE UNITED initiative and serves as a call-to-action for individuals to come together in collective efforts to make needed changes in their communities.

“Advancing the common good means recognizing that we are all connected and interdependent,” said Executive Director of United Way of Marion County Pam Stone. “It involves creating opportunities for a better life for all. When individuals, organizations, governments and businesses set aside their special interests and work together for the betterment of the community, we can make a difference. Living United means being part of that change.”

Here in Marion, United Way is partnering with Habitat of Humanity again to create a Day of Action that will be about helping families to build their own homes. This year’s home is located at 384 North State Street in Marion. Call the United Way office to reserve a place and a free LIVE UNITED t-shirt in your size. Bring a pair of gloves and a hammer. Other tools will be available, but volunteers are welcome to bring their own tool boxes as well.

Volunteers may participate all day or on the following shifts:
• 8:30 am – 11:30 am
• 11:30 am – 1:30 pm
• 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm

Our community is joining people all across the country, who are going to take action and demonstrate how they LIVE UNITED by giving, advocating and volunteering. For more information or to sign up contact Kathy Wink at the United Way office at: 740-383-3108.
