New Service Director for the City of Marion

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing his appointment of Jay M. Shoup to the position of Service Director for the City of Marion. Mr. Shoup will assume his new duties on Monday, April 7, 2008. Jay, a resident of Marion, graduated from Marion Catholic High School and Ohio Northern University, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.

In his position as Service Director Mr. Shoup will oversee the operation of the City’s Airport, Engineering, Maintenance, Recreation, Sanitation and Streets, Transit, Utility Billing and Water Pollution Control Departments. Mayor Schertzer states, “Through previous training and work experience, Jay has extensive knowledge in key areas needed by my administration. He has many years of experience in the engineering and planning side of the work we do on a daily basis and I truly believe this will be a great help not only to my administration but to our departments as well. I believe Jay will be a tremendous asset as an employee of the City. He is a hard worker and I know he will work diligently for the residents of our city.”
