Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing the following closings and adjusted hours for City Offices during the upcoming Holiday week:
In observance of the Christmas holiday, City Hall offices will be closed on Monday, December 26, 2011. For the New Year’s holiday, City Hall offices will be closed on Monday, January 2, 2012.
•Sanitation crews will not collect refuse on Monday, December 26th or Monday, January 2nd. Residents with Monday sanitation service are asked to have collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27th and Tuesday, January 3rd. Crews will collect both Monday and Tuesday’s refuse on each Tuesday (If weather does not permit collection of both days refuse, collection could extend into Wednesday.). Sanitation crews will also begin collecting live Christmas trees on December 27th. Live Christmas trees should be placed at curbside on the resident’s garbage day. Residents are asked to NOT wrap trees in plastic, as City crews will chip the trees at curbside for two weeks following Christmas.
•Recreation Center hours, for youth ages 18 and younger, during the holiday week are as follows:
December 24th – 26th Closed
December 27th - 30th 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
December 31st - January 2nd Closed
•The Senior Center will close at 4:00 pm on Friday, December 23rd and then remain closed through Monday, December 26th for the Christmas holiday. For the New Years holiday, the Center will close at 4:00 pm on Friday, December 30th.
•Transit Marion Area Transit will have buses in operation on December 23rd until 2:00 pm and will then be closed through December 26th. On December 30th, buses will operate until 2:00 pm and will then be closed through January 2nd.
Necessary services including fire, police, and airport will operate as usual.
