Elgin High School holds annual golf outing
This is a charitable event that will provide funds for various improvements in the Elgin Baseball/Football Programs. Planned areas of improvement include: new football blocking sled, new linemen chutes, baseball spring trip, and new equipment. Prizes will be awarded for closest to the pin, longest drive, and skins.
The cost is $60 per golfer. This price includes 18 holes of golf with cart, golf balls, and lunch, plus the opportunity for prizes through a variety of events. more...

Born Learning Trails to promote early childhood learning and family fun
Learning happens everywhere a child goes, but parents, grandparents, and caregivers may not always know how to support that learning.
That won’t be the case at Garfield and McKinley Parks. When Mom and Dad, Aunt Amy and Grandpa take their favorite young child to Garfield and McKinley parks now, they’ll be able to play fun games together that will help the child come to school ready to succeed.
That’s because Help Me Grow, the City of Marion, and United Way of Marion County created an outdoor interactive early learning Trail at Garfield and McKinley Parks to help parents, grandparents and caregivers turn excursions into fun learning moments. more...

Marion Community Foundation 2010 applications are now available
Effective immediately, non-profit organizations in Marion County have potential access to more than $325,000 in grant funds. The 2010 grant cycle is in progress at Marion Community Foundation and applications are now available.
According to MCF president Brad Bebout, the Foundation has issued its formal Request for Proposals to all area not-for-profit organizations. Applications, which will be due July 28, are available at the Foundation’s offices, 504 S. State St., or online at marioncommunityfoundation.org. more...

The Marion County Athletic Booster Association will hold an Independence Day Bingo on July 1 in the bingo hall on Ohio 4 north of Marion.

This year the Elgin football program will be hosting its second annual Big Bang 5K Fun Run and Walk.
