The Harding 2020 project received a significant boost from Marion Community Foundation. Marion Community Foundation has awarded a grant of $31,250 to the Harding Home and Presidential Center project, and intends to provide similar awards over the next 8 years for a total of $250,000 in support. Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing the following closings and adjusted hours for City Offices over the Christmas and New Year’s holiday weeks. Please note, as a result of Christmas Day and New Year’s Day falling on Sunday, the holiday will be observed on the Monday of each week.

Last Tuesday, November 29, was a global day of giving known as Giving Tuesday. Locally, Marion Community Foundation and United Way of Marion County partnered to raise funds, to the tune of $5,228.

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing that offices in City Hall will be closed on Friday, November 11, 2016 in observance of Veteran’s Day. Due to City Hall being closed on Friday, most offices will be observing weekly early closure hours on Thursday, November 10.

The Chief Jack Holliday Memorial Fund at Marion Community Fund awarded a grant to the Marion Township Fire Department, who is observing October as national Fire Prevention Month. The award will allow the department to purchase smoke detectors and batteries and install them for Marion area residents whose homes are not equipped.
Members of the department have gone door-to-door in the township every Saturday and Sunday this month and installed smoke detectors.… Read More

The Lake Loop Trail connects to the main trail and allows visitors to walk the perimeter of the 50+ acre lake, acquired in 2014 from the City of Marion. Marion Community Foundation’s past president Brad Bebout was instrumental in the collaboration which added the lake to the Tallgrass property. The lake trail is an 0.8 mile gravel path and, including the portion that connects to the main trail, is 1.3 miles in total length for the full loop.… Read More
