Local United Way Adds Assistant Director

MARION, OHIO – United Way of Marion County announced today the addition of a new assistant director. Amber Wertman joined the agency’s staff earlier this month.

Wertman brings with her extensive experience with United Way. She served as the Executive Director for United Way of Crawford County since 2013. While there she coordinated the merger of three smaller United Ways into a single countywide entity, at the same time implementing the community outcome model.… Read More

Mayor Schertzer is announcing that in observance of the President’s Day holiday, offices in City Hall will be closed on Monday, February 16, 2015. The following departments will operate as noted below:

Sanitation crews will collect garbage and recycling on Monday, February 16. Residents who normally have refuse collected on Monday are requested to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m.

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing the following closings and adjusted hours for City Offices during the upcoming holiday week:

City Hall Many departments will be utilizing vacation time over the holiday period of December 24 – 26 and December 31 – January 2. Veteran’s Day closuers for City of Marion

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing that offices in City Hall will be closed on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 in observance of Veteran’s Day.
The following city departments will operate as noted:

Sanitation crews will collect garbage and recycling. Customers normally having refuse collected on Tuesday are requested to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 am.

The Marion Senior Center will be open normal operating hours. On this day, the Center will be honoring and providing a complimentary lunch for all local Veterans.… Read More


City of Marion’s Leaf Collection program 2014

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing that leaf collection for city residents will begin Monday, October 20 and continue through Friday, December 12, 2014. The three options for disposal of leaves by city residents are:

1. Place leaves in the tree lawn area to be vacuumed. A vacuum-type collector will collect leaves raked to the tree lawn area, with each street having leaves collected during the leaf pick-up season.
As a note, residents should NOT rake leaves into the street in order to keep from blocking catch basins and drains, so water can drain properly into the city’s storm sewer system.… Read More
