City Hall Closed for President’s Day holiday

Mayor Schertzer is announcing that in observance of the President’s Day holiday, offices in City Hall will be closed on Monday, February 15, 2016. The following departments will operate as noted below:

Sanitation crews will collect garbage and recycling on Monday, February 15. Residents who normally have refuse collected on Monday are requested to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m.

City Hall will be closed on Monday, January 18, 2016 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. However, some City departments will operate on a regular or modified schedule for the day.

Holiday Hours announced for City Offices

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing the following closings and adjusted hours for City Offices during the weeks of December 21 and December 28. City Hall Many departments will be utilizing vacation time over the holiday period of December 24 – 25 and December 31 – January 1. Director of Public Service for City of Marion Retires

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing the retirement of Jay M. Shoup, Director of Public Service for the City of Marion, effective December 31, 2015. During his tenure with the City of Marion, Mr. Shoup oversaw the operation of the City’s Airport, Engineering, Maintenance, Sanitation, Streets, Transit, Utility Billing, and Water Pollution Control Departments. He has also served on the Marion County Regional Planning Commission and the City Planning Commission.

When joining the City of Marion as Director of Public Service on April 7, 2008, Jay continued his years in the public sector that originally began in the late 1960’s as a summer intern for the City engineering department.… Read More
