Street Closures for Popcorn Festival Announced

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing that at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, September 6, detours will begin being posted on the following streets in the downtown Marion area to accommodate activities for the Marion Popcorn Festival, which will be held September 8-10.

Three Named To Marion Community Foundation Board

Marion Community Foundation has named three new members to its Board of Directors and selected officers for the 2016-17 fiscal year. New board members include Daryl Gates, Luke Henry, and Chuck Speelman.

Gates is President and CEO of the Caledonia-based agri-business operation Morral Companies, LLC. He is engaged in manufacturing and sales of plant nutrients, plant protection products, ice melters and environmental products.
A 1974 graduate of The Ohio State University, Gates is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Ohio Agri-Business Association, the Governor’s Advisory Committee with Ohio Department of Agriculture, Central Ohio Farmers CO-OP, and

Loudenslager Agricultural Leadership Scholarship Awarded Two Scholarships

The Loudenslager Agricultural Leadership Scholarship recently awarded two scholarships for local students to attend the National FFA’s Washington Leadership Conference July 12-17 in Washington D.C.

This year’s Marion area recipients are Kaylie Long from Ridgedale FFA and Josh Strine from the River Valley FFA. Long and Strine will spend five days in the Nation’s Capital learning effective leadership by exploring their purpose, how to value people, and how to actively serve others.… Read More

Closures for the City of Marion for Memorial Day Holiday

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing that City Departments will be closed on Monday, May 30, 2016 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

Departments in City Hall will be closed on May 30, 2016. Offices will re-open for normal business on Tuesday, May 31.

The Sanitation department will not collect trash, recycling, or yard waste on Monday, May 30. Residents who normally have sanitation service on Monday are asked to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m.… Read More
