Marion Community Foundation Kickstarts Endowment for Harding 2020

The Harding 2020 project received a significant boost from Marion Community Foundation. Marion Community Foundation has awarded a grant of $31,250 to the Harding Home and Presidential Center project, and intends to provide similar awards over the next 8 years for a total of $250,000 in support. This is in addition to the $225,000 previously granted to the Harding Project in early 2016 to assist with the acquisition of neighboring properties to expand the current Home site.… Read More


City of Marion Holiday Hours

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing the following closings and adjusted hours for City Offices over the Christmas and New Year’s holiday weeks. Please note, as a result of Christmas Day and New Year’s Day falling on Sunday, the holiday will be observed on the Monday of each week.
All departments in City Hall will be closed on Monday, December 26 in observance of the Christmas holiday and Monday, January 2 in observance of the New Year’s holiday.… Read More


Giving Tuesday Donors Raise $5000+ For United Way

Last Tuesday, November 29, was a global day of giving known as Giving Tuesday.  Locally, Marion Community Foundation and United Way of Marion County partnered to raise funds, to the tune of $5,228.

The partnership between the two organizations sought to increase support for United Way in two ways—long-term via gifts to the United Way Endowment Fund at Marion Community Foundation; and, immediate by matching gifts to the local 2016 Campaign.… Read More


Foundation Lake and Trail dedicated at Tallgrass Trail

The Lake Loop Trail connects to the main trail and allows visitors to walk the perimeter of the 50+ acre lake, acquired in 2014 from the City of Marion. Marion Community Foundation’s past president Brad Bebout was instrumental in the collaboration which added the lake to the Tallgrass property. The lake trail is an 0.8 mile gravel path and, including the portion that connects to the main trail, is 1.3 miles in total length for the full loop.… Read More
