Learning to Talk the Talk: Empowering Parents in a Wild Child World is the theme for the 25th Annual Wild Child Conference being held September 9th, 2014 at TRECA (100 Executive Drive; Marion, Ohio). This year’s regional conference for social workers, educators, juvenile justice and health care professionals will focus on strengthening the parent-child relationship.

Pam Stone Awarded 2014 Distinguished Service Award

MARION, OHIO – Pamela Stone, Executive Director at the United Way of Marion County, was recognized for her contributions to local education with the North Central Ohio Educational Service Center’s (NCOESC) Distinguished Service Award last week during the group’s annual convocation day in Tiffin, Ohio. NCOESC is committed to offering quality programs and services that will help school districts meet their unique needs.

NCOESC Superintendent Dr. Jim Lahoski presented Stone with the award, saying that “Stone has been a passionate advocate of education in Marion County since the mid/late 1990s.”

Volunteers Needed for Saturday in the Park Festival

The Saturday in the Park Committee is seeking volunteers in Marion – individuals, community organizations, community leaders, businesses, anyone wanting to make a difference – to help with inflatable bounce rides, sell tickets, work booths, and lend a hand to ensure the success of the 2014 event.

Saturday in the Park returned to Lincoln Park in 2013 and was an overwhelming success, but the biggest need is still to find additional volunteers to help ensure that each child attending the family event has a fun and rewarding experience.… Read More

Grant application deadline July 25

With only a week to go, the deadline for Marion Community Foundation’s 2014 Competitive Grants Program is fast approaching. Marion area non-profit organizations have until 5 p.m. on Friday, July 25, to apply for a portion of the $700,000 available.
