Two New Members Join Marion Community Foundation

Two new members have been welcomed to the Marion Community Foundation Board of Trustees, announced president and CEO Dean L. Jacob. The new board members include: Judge Deb Alspach and Tom Clark. These new members maintain the board at its full complement of 15 members.

With this election, Alspach returns to Marion Community Foundation, having served as one of the board of trustees’ charter members (1998-2006), as well as creator of the Don Alspach Memorial Fund, established in 2008 in memory of her late husband for the benefit of the Prairie Parks Foundation.… Read More


United Way Campaign Officially Kicks Off

The United Way of Marion County’s 78th annual campaign officially kicked off on Thursday, September 18th. The event, in conjunction with Marion Area Chamber’s Business After Hours, was hosted by Marion Public Library. The theme for the campaign is “UN1TE: It takes just one person to change one life. Be the ONE.”

United Way 2014 Campaign Chair, Diane Watson, announced that the organization had set a goal of $1,000,000, which will be used to support 18 local agencies who provide 33 different programs in the areas of education, income, health, and safety net.… Read More


Annual fundraising campaign to kick-off for Marion community

United Way of Marion County will kick-off its annual fundraising campaign Thursday, September 18 at 5:15 p.m. at the Marion Area Chamber’s Business After Hours Event, to be held at and sponsored by the Marion Public Library (445 East Church Street).

Popcorn Festival Street Closures

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing that on Tuesday, September 2nd at 6:00 pm detours will begin being posted in the downtown Marion area to accommodate activities for the 2014 Marion Popcorn Festival. Streets will remain closed until the festival’s conclusion at midnight on Saturday and may remain closed into early Sunday morning for festival clean-up. The following downtown streets will be closed to traffic beginning September 2nd at 6:00 pm:
