Marion Community Foundation Awards $548,200 in Grants

MARION, OHIO – Marion Community Foundation is awarding $548,200 this year from its 2018 Community Grants Program. These funds will help support 36 programs at Marion area nonprofit organizations.

“For the past 20 years, Marion Community Foundation has supported Marion’s nonprofit organizations with grants from its charitable funds,” said Dean Jacob, Foundation president and CEO. “Cumulatively, we have returned $15 million in grants and scholarships—which is more than the Foundation’s original endowment in 1998.”… Read More


City of Marion Labor Day Closures

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing the following closures in observance of the Labor Day holiday for the City of Marion on Monday, September 3, 2018:

• All offices in City Hall will be closed.
• Sanitation crews will not work on Monday, September 3. Residents that normally have Monday sanitation service are asked to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4. Sanitation crews will collect both Monday and Tuesday’s refuse on Tuesday, with the possibility that some of Tuesday’s collection could extend into Wednesday.… Read More


S.R. 95 Urban Resurfacing Project

The Administration for the City of Marion is announcing that The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is currently working on State Route 95 (Mount Vernon Avenue), which is part of an Urban Resurfacing Project. ODOT’s Urban Resurfacing Project resurfaces state routes through a city. This particular project will also involve minor curb replacement in specific locations as the project is completed.

City of Marion Yard Waste Collection

The City of Marion is announcing that weekly yard waste collection at curbside for the 2018 collection season is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 16 and will run through Friday, December 7.

The curbside pick-up for yard waste generally occurs on the day following each resident’s regular trash collection day (example: Friday trash pick-up – Monday yard waste pick up). With limited personnel, this schedule may vary. Note: Residents with an excessive delinquent sanitation and sewer account balance are not eligible for curbside pick-up of yard waste.… Read More
