Eight New Funds at Marion Community Foundation

MARION – Local donors, including Marion’s “favorite daughter,” Mary Ellen Withrow, have created eight new funds at Marion Community Foundation in the past month. This brings the total funds in the Foundation’s portfolio to 210. The new funds include scholarships, organizational endowments, donor advised funds, and unrestricted funds.
Withrow, who served as the 40th Treasurer of the United States during the Clinton administration, created the Mary Ellen Withrow Scholarship Fund for female students from any Marion County high school, with special consideration for students pursuing an education in the field of finance or political science.… Read More


Two New Board Members Welcomed to the Marion Community Foundation

MARION, OH – Two new members have been welcomed to the Marion Community Foundation Board of Directors, announced president and CEO Dean L. Jacob. The new board members include Jeremy Dunn and Fran Voll. These new members bring the board to its full complement of 15 members.

Jeremy Dunn, a Marion native, graduated from Pleasant High School in 2001 and spent the next seven years completing studies at Southeastern University and starting his professional career with JPMorgan Chase & Co.… Read More


Local United Way Adds Assistant Director

MARION, OHIO – United Way of Marion County announced today the addition of a new assistant director. Amber Wertman joined the agency’s staff earlier this month.

Wertman brings with her extensive experience with United Way. She served as the Executive Director for United Way of Crawford County since 2013. While there she coordinated the merger of three smaller United Ways into a single countywide entity, at the same time implementing the community outcome model.… Read More


City of Marion Presidents Day Observance

Mayor Schertzer is announcing that in observance of the President’s Day holiday, offices in City Hall will be closed on Monday, February 16, 2015. The following departments will operate as noted below:

Sanitation crews will collect garbage and recycling on Monday, February 16. Residents who normally have refuse collected on Monday are requested to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m.
