Leaf Collection for City Residents

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing that leaf collection for city residents will begin Monday, October 22 and continue through Friday, December 8, 2018.
The three options for disposal of leaves by city residents are:

1. Place leaves in the tree lawn area to be vacuumed.
A vacuum-type collector will collect leaves raked to the tree lawn area, with each street having leaves collected during the leaf pick-up season.
As a note, it is requested that residents NOT rake leaves into the streets so water can drain properly into the city’s storm sewer system and therefore, not cause blockage for catch basins and drains.… Read More


Marion Popcorn Festival Street Detours

The City of Marion is announcing that detours in the downtown Marion area will get underway at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, September 4 to accommodate activities for the upcoming Marion Popcorn Festival, being held September 6-8. Downtown streets will remain closed until the festival’s conclusion at midnight on Saturday and will remain closed into the early hours of Sunday morning for festival clean-up. City of Marion Community Clean-Up Day

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing that the City of Marion will sponsor a Community Clean-Up Day on Saturday, May 5, 2018.
Any City of Marion resident, currently on City Sanitation Service, wishing to dispose of unwanted items may do so by taking those items directly to the Marion County Solid Waste Transfer Station located at 1564 Victory Road, (directly east of the Marion Correctional Institute). City of Marion’s Observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday

City Hall will be closed on Monday, January 15, 2018 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. However, some City departments will operate on a regular or modified schedule for the day. The following departments will operate as listed below:
